My name is Laverne Ellis, I attend North Carolina Central University after seeking a second phase of life changing employment. I earned a BS in History with a minor in Science graduating in 2006 with honors as a "Cum laude" member. In 2015, I earned a Master’s Degree in Curriculum Instructions with the focus in middle from Grand Canyon University. I enjoy teaching science to my middle schoolers. I am engaged in school activities and most of all having time with family. I am a member of two most distinctive honor societies for life that includes the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning ideas among historians. Having said this, my mission is to help address, teach and meet the needs of our 21st century students by sharing my goals that amplifies my reasons for teaching and loving the science world. They are “Phi Alpha Thetaand PI Gamma MU” which helps to identify my goals and success in Social Science Honor Society for life. That’s why I enjoy connecting and engaging students in everyday life experiments so they too can see the joy and exposure of living things as science comes to life right before their eyes. I look forward to starting my sixth year, as a Lowe's Grove Viking Teacher, Chair of the Science Department and co- chair Student Government Association Adviser!! GO VIKING PRIDE!!
My Mission
8th graders are required to explore and experience science as 21st century students in order to prepare for college. These skills allow them to be able to make positive changes in our society. I strive to create a conducive collaborative working environment. In the classroom, students work independently as well as in dynamic pairs and groups. I am a firm believer in giving students choices.
Classroom Mission: It is my belief that an education is one of the most valuable gifts a person can receive. I am also a firm believer that everyone is capable of learning. As a educator, it is my goal to help every child in the classroom become a lifelong learner to society and to help every child reach his or her goals.
